Cancel Culture

Cancel Culture as described by the urban dictionary: is the phenomenon or practice of publicly rejecting, boycotting, or ending support for particular people or groups because of their socially or morally unacceptable views or actions.  Cancel culture can ruin careers, but it can make a public figure think twice before posting controversial comments.  

The popular definition is skewed within itself.  It suggests that the comments made are socially or morally unacceptable.  The problem of course with the definition is that the liberal media and their favored groups get to select what in their opinion is acceptable.  It negates the rights of an individual and their rights of free speech.  We have seen people being canceled or ostracized for expressing their personal beliefs.  For example, Kevin Hart, who suggested that he would not want his son to be gay was challenged as a homophobic radical as opposed to a father that spoke his sincere beliefs about what he wanted for his son, which he has a right to do.  Though Kevin Hart probably holds more liberal political views the radical left will still muzzle their own, if one has the temerity to express a view opposed to the lefts strongly held tenets.  

Moreover, I find that cancel culture seems to apply primarily to conservatives.  You will find that the same behavior or comments would never be allowed by a conservative is looked over by liberals.  Most Americans are still shocked at how unevenly the Virginia Governor was treated who wore black face as an adult at a frat party.  He still sleeps at the Governor’s mansion in Virginia.  Recently our President referred to a member of his staff as a “boy,” who was African American.  Who can do that as a conservative and not be ridiculed or canceled – a liberal.

Cancel culture by my definition is a tool used by elite liberals to shut up conservatives when they state the obvious or dare to challenge the views or opinions that are not held by liberals or simply put - conservatives stating their opinions.  That does not give people the right to defame people or name call, but as individuals we have the right to hold different opinions, express those opinions, and civilly discuss differences of opinions, without threats of being canceled.

Critical Race Theory

Critical Race Theory - I had written about the border in my last blog and wanted to discuss critical race theory, particularly as our children are returning to school.  We need to know what our children are being taught and as parents be more involved in our children’s education and school curriculum.  Before I pivot to critical race theory, a few more thoughts about the border.  

There are Democrats and maybe some misguided Republicans that thought anyone would be better than President Trump.  Well, we have “anyone”, and it is not better.  To say this administration is not performing for the American people is mild, but name calling never works.  When you hire an employee, i.e. - elect a President - you have expectations of job performance.  We have a President that doesn’t perform.  The border crisis which has continued to go unchecked at the southern border is at the highest level since 2000, with high-ranking administration officials privately admitting that the crossings are unsustainable.  (This was reported by abcnews.go.com.) It only took this administration 8 months to determine something we all knew in January.  The number of drugs and the cartel at the border is creating drug and other criminal problems that push into our country.  These illegal elements are going unchecked by this government.  As the Criminal District Attorney in Kaufman County, which is hundreds of miles from the Texas border; our county is affected by the flood of fentanyl to our local citizens.  Maybe no one cares about drug users getting lethal doses of fentanyl from street drugs, but inlaid counties deal with the cost and strain to our law enforcement and the family members left behind to clean up this President’s mess.  

As millions of children begin the return to their classroom around the country; the Democrats are attempting to transform our American culture with fabricated history about our founding date (1619 not 1776) and critical race theory.  Frankly, they have used the crisis of COVID-19 to exploit their political agenda.  Critical race theory is yet another example.  Critical race theory is being disguised as history.  It is not.  History reports facts. Historically, no one disagrees with immorality of slavery that was foisted on Africans, which started before this country’s founding and lasted until the passage of the 13th amendment in 1865.  This economic caste system predominated the southern states in America and was the primary factor that led to the Civil War. 

Critical race theory has a good treatment by William Galston (WSJ, 7/20/21).  He outlines that critical race theory is a neo-Marxist movement, which rejects equal opportunity, merit and objectivity.  I agree with Galston.  At its core, this doctrine pits blacks against whites and makes present-day white citizens responsible for any failings of Blacks and for what was done to the families of Blacks many generations ago.  This type of application always places Blacks as victims.  In this theory - race predominates everything and there is no objectivity for the merits of an individual or their success, which contradicts the American experience and most American’s personal experience.  If this was the type of life that was truly America, why do we have an issue at our borders?  Why do people of color want to come into this country?  Why are their successes among people of color, if your color limits you from success?  Finally, this theory is a reworking of the class warfare that is Marxist theory.  In this country, pitting us against each other racially is easier than class, but make no mistake - the outcome is the same.  To change our Democratic Constitutional Republic to a Socialist Government and to change governance by the people, to governance of the government.  Critical race theory needs to be challenged at every turn.  This is not about race or being racially sensitive…this is about socialism.  The Socialist hope to cower you by calling you a racist.  You are not.  You are an American.

Protect Our Border

The influx of illegal aliens with over 1 million border crossings since the first six months of the Biden administration has been staggering. During President Obama’s administration, he warned that 1000 attempted crossings per day at the border would be a crisis. The number so exceeds that benchmark and is at least 6 times the amount - at an unbelievable number of 6000-7000 illegal border crossings per day into our country.  

The humanity of most Americans understands why migrants from the south may want to come to the US, but at what cost to US citizens?  

The current siege upon our border has created a criminal playground.  Drugs dealing, gang violence, human trafficking, child abuse, and sexual abuse just to name a few of the atrocities saturating our boarder.  Many illegals captured at the boarder by this Administration are simply released without being given court dates to report to ICE authorities and are then being directly transported by government officials to a “neighborhood near you.” Though COVID-19 is increasing in numbers in our country, this Administration is importing still more COVID-19 cases by admitting and releasing illegals into our country regardless of COVID infections, which have been reported as high as 25% of those that cross over the border.  Whether it is crime, the burden to our neighborhoods, or our health safety; American citizens bear the full cost of the federal governments abdication of its constitutions responsibilities by failing to protect and secure our border.
